My birth experience Part 2!!

I became pregnant with my second child 9 months after the birth of my first child! This time everything was different! I did not feel “good” like I did the first time. During one of my regular dr. visits, he ask if I wanted my tubes tied after this child was born. I said no, I want 4 or 6 children! He said ok he just always ask after the second child. I was also gaining more weight with this baby and it was going all over me! The first time was only in my tummy! Big difference!! Then when I was 6 months pregnant, something happen to me. I was shopping with my sister and I started feeling dizzy and seeing flashes of light. I was about to pass out. I got into my car and my sister drove me to her house; it was closer than my house. I passed out on the way home and she freaked out! She called my dr. and he said to get me to his office. My family all met us there. The dr. checked me and called the best hospital in our state and told them what happened to me. They put me in an ambulance and rushed me UAB hospital. They thought I had an aneurysm in my brain. Needless to say my family called everyone that believes in prayer and ask them to pray for me. When I arrived at UAB, I had so many dr. asking questions all at one time! This is also a teaching hospital so this helps explain the large amount of people around me! They could not run any tests on me because I was pregnant. They put a monitor on me and the baby. On the way to the hospital I was totally touched by God. This was a true miracle! The dr. had my husband to sign papers to say it was alright to take the baby because they actually thought I would be brain dead by the time I arrived at UAB! The doctors could not comprehend what was happening. One dr. actually came into my room and ask me “do you believe in God?” I was really surprised because a lot of doctors do not believe in God. I answered yes, why do you ask? He said that I should have been dead by the time I arrived and there was NO medical explanation for my being alive and actually alright! The dr. told me that God was the only reason I was still alive and that He must have something special planned for me! While I was there, I went into premature labor! At this time, most babies born this early would not survive. They gave me medicine to stop my labor but it was not working. Several hours went by and still labor pains came. I was told if the contractions had not stopped by midnight, they would have to deliver the baby. Well at 5 minutes until midnight my labor came to a stop! Another miracle! This was 1986 and sonograms were done only when a woman was having problems so I had my first sonogram! It was a boy! After spending 3 days in the hospital, I was finally allowed to go home.  Still having labor pains but the meds I was taking kept me from delivering my baby. Three weeks before my baby was due, I woke with a major headache! My husband was freaked and took me to the emergency room (he did not want to be alone with me if the same thing happened again) so here we go! When I got there they checked me out and I was in active labor! I didn’t know it because I had been having labor pains for 2 months.  Needless to say this time I ASK for an epidural before they ask me if I wanted one! lol Born 3 weeks early was my 6 pounds 1 oz baby boy Zachary! I did not have any pain like I did with the first baby! I was mentally ready for the “pain” of the birth! But he was 2 pounds smaller than the first child and I didn’t feel a thing! Both pregnancies were very different and if I had not been in a hospital, then I would have lost both of my babies! I could not even imagine having a baby at home without any type of pain control! I am blessed to live in a country where medical help is available!
